Student DVM Externship Program
Veterinary students are strongly encouraged to apply to Baxter & Cleo Vet’s Externship Program, with multiple externship opportunities available throughout our service areas. Our program is specifically designed to support third- and fourth-year veterinary students in developing clinical confidence and real-world readiness.
We believe the most meaningful externship experience comes from active participation. Students are encouraged to perform the responsibilities of a DVM under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Rather than solely observing, externs at Baxter & Cleo Vet gain hands-on clinical experience, strengthen their decision-making skills, and actively contribute to patient care.
Our team works closely with your College of Veterinary Medicine to ensure the externship meets all institutional requirements and educational guidelines.
The value of this experience directly reflects the dedication and initiative of each student. We expect our externs to be punctual, committed to a full-time weekly schedule, engaged, inquisitive, and eager to participate in all aspects of practice life while upholding our core values and culture.
